1.Hello Douglas Hanna, welcome and thanks for being with us today.

In the year 2002, HostGator was created. HostGator grew at a breakneck rate. You've risen to the top of the web hosting industry in just over a decade. Please send us a brief overview of HostGator and its incredible success. Hanna: Of course. HostGator is one of the most well-known shared, resellers, and committed hosting companies in the world. We're still the largest white-label reseller hosting provider, and we're growing at a breakneck rate. We were named the 21st fastest-growing private company in the United States by Inc. Magazine in August 2008, which was a tremendous honor and something we were really proud of.

2. What other awards and recognition have HostGator won?

We believe it will be years before it can compete with the conventional shared hosting services that we provide, but it is a technology worth keeping an eye on and researching as time goes on.

5. Moving from a web host to another can be pretty painful. What can HostGator do for customers who wish to switch their web host to yours?

Hanna: I'm Hanna. We will move their accounts for free from their previous web host to us! Hosting is still more of a service company than a technology business, and I believe the business will stick to that model as long as the same people (individuals, freelancers, small businesses, etc.) continue to purchase shared hosting for a low price. Engineers and computer scientists are used to, and prefer, tackling problems that can be automated and solved by big companies like the ones I mentioned earlier. At the moment, shared hosting isn't that form of company.

With that in mind, cloud and grid hosting are both fantastic technologies with a lot of potentials. I believe they will continue to rise in popularity, and we at HostGator are keeping an eye on how they advance and evolve, but I also believe they are much more than the average hosting customer requires.

The blurring of the boundaries between conventional web hosting and software as a service, in my opinion, would be more important to the hosting industry as a whole. Customers can build simple websites for free using Google Pages. Is it hosting, software as a service, or a combination of the two? There are more cases like this, and I believe the lines will blur a little more as a result, changing the “traditional” meaning of hosting.
