Today, I discussed what shared web hosting is and its benefits and drawbacks. Let's take a look at how you can get some shared web hosting to host your website and/or blog HostGator Hosting(s) (s).
When it comes to web hosting, HostGator is a market leader. I've been a HostGator customer for a long time, and I've been a very happy customer!
Apart from their super-reliable operation and excellent customer care, one of the best things about HostGator is that they provide a variety of hosting packages and plans, one of which is shared hosting.
Even when it comes to their joint plans, you have a lot of options, as shown in the table below:
Hostgator.com shared hosting plan:
Hatchling Plan
The Hatchling Package, which is their most simple and cheapest plan, costs as little as $2.43 a month and enables users to host a single website. It does, however, have unrestricted bandwidth and storage space. If you're confident you won't be buying more domains or running more than one website in the future, this is the strategy for you.
Baby Plan
The Baby Plan (which is also what I normally use when purchasing HostGator shared hosting) allows you to host an unlimited number of domains. So, if you intend to launch more than one website in the future, it's a smart idea to pay the $2.98 monthly fee and sign up for this plan. You won't have to purchase web hosting for each of your websites if you have unlimited websites, making it a cost-effective and sensible choice.
Business Plan
The Business Plan includes all of the features of the Baby Plan, plus a private IP address and priority customer service via a toll-free number for an additional $4.48 per month.

How to Buy Shared Hosting on HostGator.
Step 1: Go to the HostGator website, or go straight to their shared hosting page here to save some time.
Step 2: Take a look at the plans that are mentioned on this page. Examine the differences in both of these programs. I personally prefer the Baby Plan, which is ideal for new blogs and websites because it includes unlimited bandwidth, hosting space, and the option to add several domains (if you decide to do that).
However, it is entirely dependent on you and your requirements. Consider it and make a call. The most affordable package is about $43-47 a year.
Step 3: Decide on the length of time (in years) that you want to commit to. You can commit to HostGator for as little as 6 months or as long as 3 years, meaning you can buy hosting for as little as 6 months or as long as 3 years. You can also purchase hosting for a year or two years.
HostGator now provides one-month web hosting, which is useful if you want to try it out before making a long-term commitment.
Remember that a longer commitment means lower costs; for example, if you buy 3 years of web hosting, you can pay less per month than if you buy a year or month's worth of hosting.
If you've agreed on a plan and the number of years you'd like to buy hosting for, click Order Now to go to the HostGator Order Wizard.
Step 4: You'll be asked to register a new domain or join one if you already have one registered elsewhere on the Order Wizard list (such as on another domain name registrar).
Keeping the domain registrar and hosting company separate is always a good idea.
Proceed to the next move after entering the domain in the format www.YourDomainName.com.
If you want to create a new one, enter it here, select the desired extension, and HostGator will tell you whether it's available or not.
Step 5: Confirm your hosting plan and billing period (i.e. the length of time you want to commit) in the next box.
Step 6: Choose your desired username and security pin, then enter your credit card or PayPal details – whatever method of payment you prefer.
Step 7: Choose from a variety of hosting add-ons. HostGator has a few of them:
SiteLock: For just $15, you can get a mechanism that protects your website from malware attacks and external threats.
For a one-time fee of $19.95, JumpStart creates a temporary web page while the website is being built, as well as providing a walk-through on how to design a website.
You have the option of using one, both, or none of these services.
You can now enter any coupon codes you might have.
Step 8: Finally, at the bottom of the page, you'll be able to review your account, see your shopping cart and all of the items in it, as well as a price overview. At this stage, you can make some updates, additions, or deletions to your shopping cart, and then simply press Create Account after checking the terms and agreements box.
That's it; you're done. You now have your own virtual internet space where you can host your website(s), domain(s), and all of your files.
Step 9: Yes, we aren't done yet. You must also link your domain name to your web hosting. That means you'll need to go to your domain registrar's website's control panel and add the HostGator name servers there. Look for the name servers in your HostGator control panel (you'll probably also find them in HostGator's emails), and simply link them to your domain's control panel. It takes about 24-48 hours for both to be connected (a process known as propagation), after which your website will go live.
Step 10: Install WordPress using HostGator's one-click script installation feature (available in the control panel), or hire someone to build your site and upload the files to your hosting account. It's all up to you.
