HostGator Review 2021: Why people choose HostGator

The best hosting on the internet can be a very complicated job, particularly when hosting good support services. I've been on the web for years, and I know for the best hosting experience.

You will see millions of websites from the results when you search the web using the keyword "hosting." Surely the biggest issue for you will be here. How do you know the best hosting with all these results? In other words, how is the best Internet hosting company defined? Is the most affordable the best? I'm going to demonstrate so you don't waste your money and your time.

Confidence is the secret to Internet success. The best web hosting requires a strong infrastructure and the latest technologies. This provides the basis for ensuring customer loyalty and operability. If a Web hosting company cannot guarantee your uptime and does not guarantee and reimburse you for at least 30 days of money back, the move to another hosting provider would be completely important. The server uptime should be 99.9 percent, as a quality web hosting service minimum level is provided. You will lose visitors and potential clients if your website falls regularly.

HostGator Review

For the last 37 months, I have been a paying client for HostGator. I tracked their output during this period — time and uptime for the load.

This assessment relies heavily on data like uptime, time (speed) loading, and customer service.

What is HostGator?

The fresh, premium hosting called the HostGator WordPress Cloud has been introduced recently.

We can confidently recommend them as an alternative to HostGator's standard, popular hosting options after evaluating their service for 9+ months.

In our total top classified hosts, HostGator WordPress Cloud is also # 1.

Web hosting strong. Actually?
Now return to the study of shared hosting HostGator.
If you will remember one name on our complete list of hosting websites, it will be HostGator.

Perhaps you don't know why you know it. You do, however.

The HostGator based in Houston is possibly one of the biggest web hosting companies in the world with over 9 million (!). They have collaborations with tiny Cisco and Linux tech titans (they've ever heard?).

HostGator is a member of the Endurance International Group (EIG) which has also owned Bluehost, Justhast, iPage, Fatcow, etc. since 2002, originally created by Brent Oxley before being acquired ten years later.

In Houston and Provo, Utah, they have two US-based data centers. And the enterprise has become an international brand with great success.

HostGator opened an office in India at the beginning of 2012 to extend its international presence. HostGator has since become a real brand of Host-In-India.

So, exactly, what about the huge success of HostGator?
Amazing uptime? Great service for the customer? Or a HUGE budget for marketing?
We were looking for an honest, impartial report that sheds light on their results (not their advertising claims).

On their joint Hatchling schedule, we launched a WordPress Website in June 2015.

We have tracked your performance statistics ever since, including uptime and speed, to share your results.

Here’s what we found.

Pros of using HostGator (shared) Hosting

HostGator has a few noble characteristics, including a money-back guarantee longer than average and a user-friendly interface for beginners. This is a short synopsis.

1. Uptime? Very Good — 99.99%

Only if an up-to-date, secure and coherent website is helpful.
Fortunately, over the past year, HostGator has reached 99,99% uptime (0.20% higher than the typical industry).
When our website was first linked to HostGator, the days were awful but it has improved.

2021:

  • January average uptime: 100%
  • February average uptime: 99.98%
  • March average uptime: 99.98%
  • April average uptime: 99.99%
  • May average uptime: 99.99%
  • June average uptime: 100%
  • July average uptime: 100%
  • August average uptime: 99.98%
  • September average uptime: 100%
  • October average uptime: 99.98%
  • November average uptime: 99.99%
  • December average uptime: 99.94%

The uptime for HostGator is improving, but still below average. Raw data here. Raw information here.

2. Good Support (at least, we think so…)

HostGator provides support via phone, live chat, and email 24 hours a day 7/365 days a week.
After a delay of 16 minutes, your representative was sufficiently knowledgeable and polite. We were not blown away by service, but also did not go away in our mouth with a bad taste.

Talk to "Charles C," who is supporting Hostgator.

It took some minutes to get an answer, but Charles C answered all our questions extensively.

We asked if a way could be added to our email spam control. He gave us two guidelines for the use of the two methods.

In his response, he also recommended one tool over the other (SpamAssassin about BoxTrapper).

3. 45-Day Money Back Guarantee

We have checked most web hosts offer a regular 30-day cash back guarantee. HostGator bumps up to 45 days, which gives you two additional weeks before you enter a one-to-three-year period to try its services.

There are some limitations and limitations on the money-back guarantee provided by HostGator, however, other than the fact that you must cancel your account within 45 days of purchase.

This is what you should do about receiving your HostGator money back:

  • Your repayment shall not be applicable for dedicated servers, operating costs, custom software installation fees, or purchases of domain names. Only for shared hosting, reselling, or VPS.
  • Just $0.01 orders are not available for refunds (whatever that means).
  • You are not eligible for your refund if you pay for your kit by check, money order, or bank transfer. If you are elegant to request a refund, please be sure to use alternate payment options including a debit card, a credit card, PayPal, or cash for a HostGator subscription.

4. Enhanced Security and Free Migration

HostGator will gladly help you to move an existing website free of charge to your services.

You will benefit from automated regular database backups, automatic malware removal, and a free SSL certificate to process website transactions if you think of shelling the major banks for one of their premium plans (JKs, they are not that expensive).

HostGator also has DDoS security.

5. Very User Friendly for Beginners

HostGator is easy for beginners to use (which is nice, considering the utilitarian interfaces of some web hosts read like a foreign language).

There are also infinite tutorials, FAQ pages, and documents that provide you with comprehensive descriptions and easy step-by-step advances.

Cons of using HostGator (shared) Hosting

HostGator has several redemptive characteristics. In some of the major categories, however, they are a little short (like uptime and speed). Here's how our studies favored them.

1. Not Fast Enough. Just Below Average…

In addition to the media loading times, HostGator adopted their bright uptime views. HostGator has

The average of 1,023ms over the last 12 months is a little (14%) faster than the 1.18 500 average.

This is not good. That's not good. Especially when speed is included in Google's organic search (SEO) algorithm and sales for each delayed second have proven difficult.

Loading time for the website is greater than ever: this is not just why loading time for the web host is one of our key measurements for rankings we study.

Again, there is less experience in providing better loading times of FAR pages because of the smaller web host.

Last 12 month average load time

2021:

  • January average speed: 1,060ms
  • February average speed: 1,082ms
  • March average speed: 1,064ms
  • April average speed: 995ms
  • May average speed: 987ms
  • June average speed: 1,025ms
  • July average speed: 1,005ms
  • August average speed: 1,000ms
  • September average speed: 1,013ms
  • October average speed: 1,037ms
  • November average speed: 1,023ms
  • December average speed: 988ms

2. Extra Fee for ‘True’ Backups

HostGator advertises one of its website distinguishing features as 'instant backups.'

The problem is, the manual ones available in cPanel by design.

Do you want to ease automatic backups? You are going to get another $15.95 per year.

Here's what they say on their website about their 'instant backup':

"The automated backup service from HostGator runs randomly once a week and each run overwrites previous backups. Backups are held at one time for about a week. The terms and conditions of our backup policy differ by hosting form."

Only accounts under 20 GB and 100,000 inodes are backed up by shared servers.

The organization also claims to have safeguards of kindness, but they are not guaranteed.

You suggest customers seek backup services from third parties in order to protect their data.

3. Standard Pricing ‘Tricks’

The price of web hosting looks decent from a distance, but far from good.

The first trick in the book is to have only the lowest rates for the longest periods—that means that you would have to sign up for at least three years if your website reflects the large 'promotional pricing.' Otherwise, your monthly rate would leap over 50% to 150% if you want a real monthly option or even a twelve-month contract.

The second trick is to only deliver this low advertised rate for your initial term while talking about 'Promotion Pricing.' It is time to renew so that the prices can leap back up to their 'usual' price once your contract expires (which again, could be more than double the original price).

HostGator looks like that, after all, not so much.

Do we recommend HostGator Shared?

Unfortunately, no.

HostGator is for one reason one of the largest household names. But your daily and shared hosting service is perfect for anyone who starts — not for people who take their website seriously.

Although average hosting uptime for HostGator is good — 99.99 percent — its speed isn't good.

They are an average host. They are an average host. And your money has far better choices.

That said, since May-June 2016, they appear to have dramatically improved their services.
